De webbhotell som trots allt erbjöd support som levde upp till begreppet “Managed”, visade sig betydligt dyrare och kostade upp mot $1000 per månad för en plan motsvarande Templs Large ($149 per månad). “Other companies charged literally for everything while claiming to be managed. It just didn’t live up to what we were paying monthly to be told to check the knowledgebase or Google it. Everyone at Templ goes above and beyond to be not only proactive, but I’d argue outside the scope of what you really have to do. Snabbare laddningstider med Templ

Efter flytt till Templ kunde News Ledge konstatera en betydlig hastighetsökning gentemot deras tidigare leverantör. Och eftersom Alex och Marcus har mycket höga ambitioner påbörjade Templ arbetet med att förbättra laddningstiderna ytterligare. Under de första månaderna vidtog Templ följande åtgärder:

  • Installation av Templs server cache och konfiguration av WP Rocket

“The loading time is now blazing fast. What’s great about Templ is that they are willing to add cutting edge technology like QUIC, before it becomes a standard in hosting circles. They also helped us with setting up webp images to improve our Google Pagespeed score. Then there’s the GCP hardware. Hosting on Google’s backbone has its benefits, and speed is definitely one of them.” berättar Marcus.

My initial impression was great. Everything was beyond simple. I turned over the logins, and you guys handled everything. If I would mention 1 specific reason for staying, it would be I don’t have to worry about the server at all.

En annan utmaning var att rensa News Ledges diskutrymme på onödiga bilder. Templ tog bort över 17 GB bilder och genererade sedan nya thumbnails med WP-CLI, vilket frigjorde 10 GB disk.

För en nyhetssajt är det förstås viktigt med högupplösta bilder, samtidigt som filstorleken måste hållas nere för att inte påverka laddningstider. Templ konfigurerade därför pluginet WebP Convert och Nginx åt News Ledge, så att bilder kan konverteras på servernivå och omvandlas till formatet WebP.
